Welcome to the Greenhouse Nursery! Our inspiration is a life long love of all things that grow and the many great developments that have been made in the field of plant breeding and development. If you take the time to watch or learn you wll find that plants are amazingly wonderful things. For instance, did you know that a fig flower is inside the fruit? Or that some primroses can grow to over 3 feet tall?
The Nursery began shortly after our son Nick was born. A greenhouse was constructed in the backyard, which led to several thousand more babies, aside from the one inside the house. The gems of the Greenhouse went to market every Saturday, and so the business was born. My wish to remain home for the first few years of our son's life was a good fit for growing plants.
The Greenhouse Nursery is now situated on 11 acres of land, located just east of Port Angeles, on Highway 101. It’s a wonderful parcel that is frequented by wildlife from wood ducks, eagles, a resident hawk, deer and numerous other species of animals. Two years ago we fulfilled our dream of building a home on the property, which encompasses views that include the Olympic Mountain range.
My husband, Gary, began his own business in 1982
HiTech Electronics. He has been an excellent source of advice and encouragement as the nursery continues to grow. He started his business with an electronics degree and a small investment. Following his heart, he has made a successful business of it, with a keen insight of what services need to be filled in our community.
Gary was a widower when we met and has 2 other sons from his first marriage. Mike is in charge of A/V for
Westport Marine, a world renowned yacht builder. We have 2 adorable granddaughters through Mike and his wife, Staci.
Joe is Gary's second son and is following in his father's footsteps at Hi Tech. He has an uncanny memory for detail and puts it to excellent use. He and his wife, Kim, have a year old bundle of joy, named Rylin.
Our son, Nick, is 16 and in high school. He has played violin in the orchestra since middle school and is a kind hearted young man.
I owe a debt of gratitude to my family and my parents, who have done countless projects on the site. From trenching, constructing, plumbing, to even running the dozers, my family visualizes what paralyzes my creative juices.
